Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs tops US box office

Washington - The 3-D animated comedy, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, was at the top of the US box office, with 30.1 million dollars in ticket sales, according to Hollywood. com.
In the film, a scientist attempts to solve world hunger by turning water into food. The result - hot dogs, spaghetti and pizza drop from the clouds after the experiment goes awry.
The Matt Damon-starrer, The Informant, was in second place with 10.5 million dollars in ticket sales, while Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself dropped to third place.
In the film based on a true story and directed by Steven Soderbergh, Damon plays a corporate whistleblower who becomes an informant for the FBI.
In fourth place was Love Happens, from NBC Universal, with 8.5 million dollars in sales and starring Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart.
Jennifer's Body, a thriller starring Megan Fox about a cheerleader who starts murdering boys, was in fifth place. (dpa)
