Tata Motors worldwide sales rise 12 per centIndia's automotive major, Tata Motors has recorded a growth of 12 per cent in worldwide growth to 96,089 units mainly due to strong numbers form the company's UK based Jaguar Land Rover unit.

The sales of Jaguar Land Rover rose by as much as 35 per cent to 30,094 units during the month, the company said. Land Rover sales rose 42 per cent to 25,752 units and Jaguar sales rose 3% at 4,342 units.

The growth has boost investor confidence as there were some concerns that the slowing Chinese market could impact the company's sales. The company's overall passenger vehicle sales rose 6 percent at 20,970 units and commercial vehicles sales increased 3 per cent to 45,025 units.

Jaguar and Land Rover unit has recorded strong growth during April-March 2012 period even as the company's domestic Indian business faced difficult year in the country. The sales of Jaguar and Land Rover models increased significantly specially after the launch of Range Rover Evoque crossover. The Jaguar Land Rover unit of the company generated 57 percent of Tata Motors' revenue for the year till March 2011 compared to 53 percent in the previous year.

The shares of Tata Motors shares rose 4.6 per cent to Rs 237.05 on NSE in afternoon trade.
