Swine Flu: Karnataka toll rises to 75

KarnatakaTwo more persons succumbed to H1N1 on Thursday, raising the total number of swine flu fatalities in Karnataka to 75.

Health officials informed the media persons that a 28-year-old woman named Pushpa, died at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD) in Bangalore on Saturday.

Another victim, 55-year-old Renuka died at the same hospital on Sunday.

However, reports confirming that both the victims tested positive for the virus was received only on Sep 17, a health official said.

Of these 75 total deaths, 55 alone were registered in Bangalore, the state capital.

Moreover, 22 new cases were tested positive for H1N1 flu on Thursday.

Out of these 22, 19 alone were from Bangalore. One case was reported from Bagalkote and the two other from Chitradurga.

Notably, Karnataka is the second worst swine flu-hit state after Maharashtra in the country.
