Webber brands Red Bull designer Newey as Formula One’s ‘Steve Jobs’

Webber brands Red Bull designer Newey as Formula One’s ‘Steve Jobs’

London, Aug 7: Red Bull driver Mark Webber has compared his team's car designer Adrian Newey to former Apple chief Steve Jobs, saying that every team tries to copy their car design.
Webber said the constant sniping over the legality of the champion team's cars has become `boring'.
"All we can do is keep passing every single test - and we have. It's not a one-make series. You can design a car to the regulations and that's what we do," The Sun quoted Webber, as saying.
Red Bull has faced pressing questions over the legality of their engine mapping and ride-height systems.
But Webber said Newey has simply been doing what he is supposed to do.
"Is Adrian the Steve Jobs of Formula One? If Steve Jobs had not got up and said the first Apple computer was the one to have, we wouldn't have our iPads. And that's what Adrian does," Webber said.
"We know a lot of teams copy what we have. And there are a lot of things where the interpretation of the rules gets changed. We take that on the chin as well," he added.
"Whether it's with the wings or whatever and I promise you something else will pop up - we will always pass every single test. Not one team has protested us because they know it's within the rules," he said. (ANI)
