Sydney, Mar 10 : Interim Australian captain Shane Watson has praised the performance of his bowlers during the recently concluded tri-series, which they won, and wants them to continue performing in a similar fashion to achieve more success. Australian bowlers were under scrutiny for some below par performances during the series, but they bowled superbly in the last final of the CB series to defend a modest total of 231 at Adelaide against Sri Lanka, with Clint McKay claiming career best figures of 5-28. The absolute accuracy of Daniel Christian (0-21 off eight overs) along with Watson himself (2-13 off seven overs) also played a vital role during the last final. Watson believes his bowler's performance in the last final would help them gain more self-belief and would be crucial for the team in the future. "It''s brilliant to see that when the guys set their minds to it, we certainly can do it. The standard we set . is where we want to play all our cricket," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Watson, as saying. "For the bowling and fielding . we set a level we need to maintain. If we do maintain that we''re going to have a lot more success," he said. Watson's temporary tenure at the helm continued yesterday as he led the squad on its departure to the West Indies. (ANI)
