Tiger will be back in three months: Jeev

New Delhi, Jan 12 (IANS) India's top golfer Jeev Milkha Singh feels that tainted American golfer Tiger Woods will return to world stage in just three months.

"I feel Tiger will be back on the greens in three months. His focus is so good. He's going to make a comeback as a winner," said Jeev, who Tuesday became the brand ambassador of top golf equipment manufacturing company Callaway.

Jeev said that world golf is suffering due to the absence of the Woods, who has taken a temporary break from the sport in a bid to save his marriage. Woods' personal life has been rocked after it was revealed that the golfer had affairs with numerous women during his five-year marriage with Swedish model Elin Nordegren.

"His (Woods) absence has affected world golf. The TV ratings and sponsorships have taken a toll, since his absence, because he has changed the game worldwide. But once he comes back, I think, things will fall in place," he said.

On his personal front, Jeev said being the brand ambassador for Callaway, alongside other golfing legends like Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els and Arnold Palmer, was something that he has desired for long.

"Golf is the fastest growing sport in the country. We will also see golf in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. It is surely exciting time for the sport and we have enough talent in the country," he said.

"But we need more public courses if we want to make the game popular in the country. I am hopeful Callaway will help me develop the game at the grassroots level," he said.
