China to continue with relaxed media rules temporarily adopted for Olympics

Beijing, Oct 18 : China has decided to continue with the relaxed rules for foreign journalists operating from the country. The relaxed rules which were temporarily adopted for the Beijing Games, allowed the foreign journalists to conduct interviews of individuals or organizations without prior permission from the local foreign affairs office. Greek prosecutors begin investigation against Halkia

"I didn't know that I had taken something that was banned," Halkia told Greek television after her first appearance before a magistrate where she was given four days to prepare her defence. Read more »

Chinese Olympic football team embroiled in sex scandal

The scandal came into light after three players were photographed by fans with a group of girls at a hotel outside of the official training camp.
According to an eyewitness, the players were seen "hugging and embracing" the women , a night before they lost to Brazil 3-0. Read more »
Doping confirmed on sixth horse at Beijing Games

A B sample has confirmed the positive test on Rufus following a control after the Olympic individual final on August 23 where Brazilian rider Pessoa finished fifth.
The test has shown traces of the prohibited stimulant nonivamide, the FEI said. Read more »
Beijing Olympics draws 4.7 billion television viewers

The estimated audience from August 8-17 surpassed the 3.9 billion viewers for the whole of the Athens games in 2004 and the 3.6 billion who watched the 2000 event in Sydney, the company said in a press release. Read more »
