Colombo, Aug 4: Australian Twenty20 captain Cameron White believes that success during the three-Test series against Sri Lanka will be the first step towards restoring the country's battered cricket reputation.
Australia is currently ranked fifth in Tests, eight points behind fourth-placed Sri Lanka.
The Michael Clarke-led team will slip a further five points if beaten in the series. Victory, however, will see Australia and Sri Lanka swap positions.
"If Australia was to win a Test series that could be the start of something that was a good Test run I guess," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted White, as saying.
"(But) I'm not sure whether you can get aura or something like that back in just one match or one series," he added.
The Australian team will begin the tour with the first of two Twenty20 matches at Kandy's Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Saturday. (ANI)
