Johannesburg, June 18 : South Africa''s Twenty20 captain Hashim Amla, who is leading the team in the absence of AB De Villiers, has said he is confident of his team performing well in the tri-series featuring Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, and added that the series provides a good opportunity for the selectors to pick the right team for the Twenty20 World Cup that is to be held in Sri Lanka in September.
The Proteas squad arrived in Harare, Zimbabwe on Sunday where they are scheduled to open their campaign against Bangladesh on Tuesday at the Harare Sports Club.
"Although it is early in the season, teams that bowl well can still perform well and Zimbabwe and Bangladesh are able to do that," Sports24 quoted Amla, as saying.
"We''re expecting to perform well, but I think the crux of the tour is to make sure that the selectors and the coach get the understanding of where they want the team to be at the World Cup," he added. (ANI)
