Samba blames Venky’s for breaking promises

Samba blames Venky’s for breaking promisesLondon, Jan 27 : Blackburn Rovers captain Christopher Samba has launched a scathing attack on the club's Indian owners, Venky's for failing to meet the promises made. He has claimed that he signed a new contract with the Rovers last year because he was shown rosy pictures. The owners had promised that enough funds would be provided to the club to support them in the transfer market, but have kept none of their promises. Venky's had also vowed to bring in big names like Brazilian Ronaldinho to the club and spend millions to take the club to new heights. But almost a year has passed, and nothing has been done yet, claimed Samba. "I signed a new deal last January right at the end of the transfer window because Venky''s told me they had big plans. Names like Ronaldinho were mentioned and they promised there was going to be a lot of investment in the team," The Sun quoted Samba, as saying. Samba said that since the promises haven't been kept, he has decided to leave the Rovers and wants to play in a club with high ambition. "It hasn''t happened, and I''ve decided I can''t stay anymore. I want to go to a club with ambitions like mine, which wants to go forward. Blackburn isn't going forward at all. If anything, we are worse off than a year ago," he added. Rovers are lying in the relegation zone at 18th place and, not many would bet against them getting relegated to the lower division if the same pattern continues. Samba also said he has given everything for the club, but he hasn't got anything in return. "I''ve put my body on the line for this club, even playing when I''ve been injured. Nobody can say I have not given everything for Blackburn." "Look at any photos of me playing for the team and you can see my commitment when I''m on that pitch. I even got knocked out by Andriy Shevchenko playing against Chelsea. But things have to work both ways," he added. (ANI)
