Portuguese TV network demands apology from Cristiano Ronaldo

Lisbon, June 23 : Portugal's Correio da Manha TV channel has demanded an official apology from football star Cristiano Ronaldo after he threw the microphone of one of its journalists in a lake.

The director of information of the station, Carlos Rodrigues, on Wednesday said that Ronaldo's attitude was very dangerous and, in his opinion, shames the whole nation, because the images have went around the world which is not exemplary, EFE news reported.

Lisbon, May 26 : Hailing his country's football captain Cristiano Ronaldo as "the best", Portuguese midfielder William Carvalho said he is "surprised" that the striker still wants to improve.

"When I met him (Cristiano) he was the best but he still wants to improve, so I admire Cristiano for that desire," Carvalho told Efe.

"If Cristiano scores a hat-trick in a game, he will want to score four in the next. If he runs 100 kilometres in one match, he will want to run 150 in the next," the Sporting Lisbon midfielder added.

Lisbon, Feb 17 - Portuguese football club Benfica needed a late goal from Oliveira Jonas to pull off a 1-0 victory over Zenit St. Petersburg in the first leg of a Champions League knockout stage clash.

The first half was a quiet affair here on Tuesday, with hosts Benfica dominant against the Russian side, reports Efe.

The hosts had only two chances in the first half. Luis Pizzi missed the target in the 18th minute, while Jonas' long shot 10 minutes later sailed just outside the post.
