Frankfurt win first match of season with late goal

The game was to have been played several weeks ago, but a Madonna concert held in the stadium a few days earlier made the pitch unplayable at the time.
Some 47,000 spectators saw all three goals scored in the final eight minutes.
The visitors took the lead in the 82nd minute through Maik Franz, but Banjamin Koehler managed to find an equalizer for the struggling Frankfurt side four minutes from the end. Read more »
Schalke defenders Krstajic, Bordon get all-clear

Frankfurt - Schalke 04 defenders Marcelo Bordon and Mladen Krstajic will not be sanctioned following a turbulent Ruhr derby match against Borussia Dortmund, the German Football Federation (DFB) said on Thursday.
The DFB's control panel dropped disciplinary action against the central defenders for lack of evidence, a statement said. Read more »
Bundesliga match between Frankfurt and Karlsruhe called off
Submitted by Rajiv Dhoot on Fri, 09/12/2008 - 10:59.Frankfurt - The Bundesliga match between Eintracht Frankfurt and SC Karlsruhe scheduled for Friday night has been postponed owing to an unplayable field, German football officials said Friday.
The decision to postpone the game was taken after a pitch inspection by referee Thorsten Kinhoefer and officials of the German football league.
They said that the field, which had been replaced after a Madonna concert in the stadium, would not be safe for the players. Earlier Friday Kinhoefer had still said that the game could go ahead. (dpa)
