Berlin, Apr. 25 : Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis lost the chance to win their 14th title as they suffered defeat in the finals of the Stuttgart Open here in Germany.

The Indo-Swiss pair failed to capitalize on their first set victory and were beaten 6-2, 1-6, 6-10 by the French pair of Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic.

Mirza and Hingis were looking to clinch their first title since February, but the second seeded French Pair pulled off a stunning win to upset the Australian Open champions.

Berlin, April 19 : Tennis greats Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams were proclaimed as the premier athletes of 2015 at the Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony.

For the 28-year-old Serbian Djokovic, it was his second consecutive Sportsman of the Year prize and third overall, while Williams, 34, has been named Sportswoman of the Year on two previous occasions, reports Efe.

The Team of the Year trophy at the award ceremony held here on Monday went to New Zealand's world-champion rugby squad whose captain Dan Carter picked up the award for Comeback of the Year.

Speaking to media at the Laureus Sports Awards here on Monday, Waugh said the lucrative T20 leagues across the globe had created a "loyalty to money" among players instead of "loyalty to the team", reports CMC.

Berlin, April 18 : Spain and Real Madrid legend Raul Gonzalez has said that his country is favourite, just like Germany and hosts France, to win the Euro 2016 football title next summer.

In a statement to EFE, Raul said "possibilities in the Euro will be very open with the presence of great teams. I consider that Spain is playing in a group of high quality, and has to defend the title. I have confidence that things will go well."
