New Delhi, March. 7 : India, which have lifted the Asia Cup title for the sixth time, have strengthen their reputation as a strong title contender for the ICC World T20 as they will enter the tournament as the number-one ranked side.

India's number-one ranking was sealed after Mahendra Singh Dhoni's side swept aside Bangladesh by eight wickets to seal the Asia Cup title in Mirpur, hours after Australia had chased down South Africa's 204 to level the three-match series at one-all.

New Delhi, March. 7 : The Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led side received a flurry of wishes from the cricketing fraternity after they thrashed Bangladesh by eight-wickets to seal the Asia Cup Trophy on Sunday.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Anurag Thakur took to Twitter to congratulate the team for their brilliants efforts.

"Heartiest congratulations to Indian Team for winning #AsiaCupT20Final superb effort by @msdhoni & boys. Perfect preparations for #ICCWT20," Thakur tweeted.

Mirpur, March. 7 : After lifting the Asia Cup trophy without losing a single match in the tournament, India's limited-over's skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has described the victory as 'special' and admitted that it will boost his side's confidence ahead of the upcoming World T20.

Earlier, opener Shikhar Dhawan produced a scintillating 60-run knock to guide India to their sixth Asia Cup title win defeating Bangladesh by eights wicket in the final played at the Shere-E-Bangla Stadium.

Mirpur, Mar. 05 : India's limited-overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni believes that Asia Cup finalists Bangladesh have improved as a side over the years, insisting that defeating a home side is always difficult.

Although India comfortably trounced the hosts by 45 runs in the opening match of the tournament, Bangladesh displayed tremendous amount of resilience as they won three successive matches to advance to the final.
