Islamabad, July 19 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sanctioned a meagre 6.4 million rupees for security costs out of its 2.6 billion rupees budget for 2010-2011, despite continuous violence in the country keeping foreign teams away.
The budget has been termed `shocking' as security remains one of the main reasons why foreign teams refuse to tour Pakistan.
No international cricket has been organised in the country since militants attacked the Sri Lankan team in Lahore last year.
Earlier, the International Cricket Council (ICC) chief executive Haroon Lorgat had expressed fears that lack of cricket due to security reasons in Pakistan could dent the future of that sport in the country, The Daily Times reports.
The PCB has earmarked Rs. 314 million on staff cost and Rs 33.2 million on other administrative expenses, while Rs 65.4 million would be spent on traveling costs.
It has also earmarked Rs 12.6 million for media costs and Rs 88.4 million on players costs, while the salaries to selectors and team officials will amount to Rs 34.9 million.
With Pakistan team forced to play its `home' matches at neutral venues, the national team home tours will cost the board Rs 338.5 million and the national team away tours will cost Rs 386.5 million. (ANI)
