Sydney, Jan 4 : Pacer James Pattinson has entered the record books on Tuesday when he became the first Australian bowler in 30 years to take a whopping 24 wickets in just four Tests.
Pattinson's marvellous spell propelled him into the same company as Terry Alderman, the last fresh-faced Aussie pacer who posted such figures way back in 1981.
He faces stiff competition for the title of the cricket world's emerging pace star, with South Africa's Vernon Philander, who took 24 wickets in his first three Tests against Australia and Sri Lanka.
"I'm loving it, that's for sure. Just to be out there playing against some of the best batsmen in the world, especially getting Sachin, that's something I'll remember my whole life," Pattinson said.
"Obviously he was pretty unlucky today with him chopping one on. It was quite a wide delivery, but if you can build enough pressure on him, something like that can happen," Fox Sports quoted him, as saying.
Pattinson said a brief chat with Glenn McGrath last week had made him focus on line and length, and that pace "would take care of itself". (ANI)
