Paes moves up to seventh place in doubles rankings

Leander PaesNew Delhi, Feb 1 : Australian Open mixed doubles champion Leander Paes moved up one place to the seventh position in men's doubles rankings of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) released Monday.

Mahesh Bhupathi, who made a first round exit at Melbourne Park with new partner Max Mirnyi of Belarus, dropped a place to eighth.

Paes with Zimbabwean Cara Black clinched the mixed doubles title at Melbourne Sunday. He also reached the men's doubles quarterfinals with Czech Lukas Dlouhy.

In the singles rankings, Somdev Devvarman is static at 162nd place while Prakash Amritraj is at 200th place.

In the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, Sania Mirza slipped down two places to 59th.(IANS)
