Melbourne, Jan 8 : Injured opener Simon Katich will be given every
chance to prove his fitness and be in the unchanged squad for next
week’s third Test against Pakistan in Hobart.
Katich is battling to overcome the elbow injury which forced him to
miss the second Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground which saw a dramatic
36-run win for the hosts, giving the home side an unassailable 2-0 lead
in the best of three Tests series.
Fellow New South Wales player Phillip Hughes, who had mixed results
filling in for Katich in Sydney, was again named in an extended 13-man
squad.
Out of form batsman Marcus North has also been retained despite a
disappointing series so far, while it appears spinner Nathan Hauritz’s
thumb injury is not as bad as first thought with no spinner named to
replace him. (ANI)
