London, June 21: New US Open champion Rory McIlroy is on course to earning a billion pound sports fortune.
The unstoppable golf ace is teeing up a raft of money-spinning ad deals. And tomorrow the 22-year-old starts his publicity drive by filming a guest slot on Simon Cowell’s new gambling show Red Or Black, the Daily Star reports.
Rory shot into the superstar-earning league 48 hours ago with a stunning eight-stroke win at the US Open.
Nigel Currie, boss of sports agency Brand Rapport, last night declared: “McIlroy is so young and talented he could easily surpass Lennox Lewis and David Beckham as the UK’s highest-earning sports stars.
He added: “If he keeps dominating golf for a number of years he could easily get up towards the £1bn mark.” (ANI)
