London, Apr 21 : Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini will not lose his job if his team fails to win Premier League title this season, as the club hierarchy believes the team has taken a step forward this year.
The Italian has received the full backing of chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, and a go-ahead to start planning for the next season.
Mancini has already started working on list of players he wants in and out, with Arsenal captain Robin van Persie his top target, The Sun reports.
His position has come into question in some quarters since his team blew a five-point lead in the title race to now trail Manchester United by five points.
City's hierarchy still feels there has been progression after finishing third and winning the FA Cup last term, and being the league's top scorers so far this season.
Mancini has 12 months left in his 3½-year deal, which will be extended this summer. (ANI)
