Hyderabad, May 4 : Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir has said that winning momentum is very important to do well in the tournament after an easy victory against Deccan Chargers (DC), and asked his players to treat each game as it is the first game of the Indian Premier League.
Speaking on maintaining the winning momentum, he said the overall performance by his entire team in the match against DC was very good and the batsmen set a good total of 170 for the opposition.
"Momentum is very important and when you have that momentum, you need to just keep playing well and it was a good overall performance by the entire team, if you see the batsmen, getting the total to 170 and then bowlers backing it up, so I think it was as very professional effort and now we just want to keep playing some good cricket," he said.
Gambhir also added that winning six matches is history now. He stressed on the fact that as a professional cricketer one always needs to concentrate on the next game rather than what you have done in the past.
"No, I think we are going to take each game and six wins are history now, today we won its history now. We have to concentrate on the next game and as a professional cricketer and if you are playing a professional sport, you just need to keep thinking about each and every game and keep taking it as seriously as it is the first game of the tournament.
"We are concentrating on the next game, which is coming just after one day, so hopefully we will continue the same performance and continue the momentum into the next game as well," he added.
Saddened by the loss, Kumar Sangakkara, captain of DC said that it hurts when a team looses so many matches.
"Cricket also is not very good for us, we take a lot of pride in the way we play a cricket, and to loose as many games as we have done, it really hurts, it is very disappointing," he said.
