Chandigarh Dec 11: Former Pakistani skipper Inzamam-ul Haq has criticised acting captain Younis Khan for making public the handling of team selection after Shoaib Malik’s injury on the current tour.
"Younis Khan’s right in asking what players to choose, but the way he went about the whole issue was not right, " Inzamam said.
Inzamam said he saw no reason for Younis to make public his grievances as skipper on a tour where little was going Pakistan’s way.
"It is imperative that such things are sorted out behind closed doors, specially on away tours, " he said.
"There is no point in washing your dirty linen in public because it sends the wrong message, " Inzamam added.
Inzamam, who is the skipper of Hyderabad Heroes in the ICL tournament, scored 44 against Chennai Superstars to guide his team to victory.
Later on, he said Twenty20 is not all about smashing the ball, but involves a lot of planning as well, the Dawn reported.
"I don’t see a big difference in Twenty20 and the 50-over game. No doubt, it’s a shorter version, but the players have got to apply themselves well even in this format of the game, " he opined.
Commenting on Brian Lara’s failure in the tournament, Inzamam said: "He’s a great player. It happens sometimes you don’t click. " (ANI)
