Wellington, Oct 15 : New Zealand quick bowler Tim Southee will miss the entire tour of Zimbabwe after failing to recover from a knee cartilage injury.
Having previously withdrawn from the limited-overs portion of the tour, Southee has now been ruled out of the 15-man squad for the sole Test match, which starts on November 1.
"The latest scans show that the knee injury has improved but the injury has not completely gone away," Stuff. co. nz quoted national selection manager Kim Littlejohn, as saying.
"We are taking a long-term view with Tim''s injury and have opted to extend his recovery period, rather than rush him back too soon. He is expected to be fit and available for December''s [two-test] series against Australia," Littlejohn added.
Southee has been replaced by swing bowler Graeme Aldridge, who is already in Zimbabwe as part of the limited-overs team. (ANI)
