Melbourne,
Dec 14 : Australian wicketkeeper Tim Paine will have to wait a while
longer to succeed Brad Haddin as the country’s No. 1 wicketkeeper as he
has been ruled out of action for another four months over his finger
injury.
Cricket Australia (CA) doctor Trefor James confirmed that Paine will
undergo another surgery today to repair a fracture to his right index
finger.
He also said that the 27-year-old’s recovery from previous surgeries have been slower than expected.
“Tim has been reviewed by specialists and CA medical staff. It is clear
that the fracture has not healed as expected and the best course of
action is for Tim to undergo further surgery,” the Sydney Morning Herald
quoted James, as saying.
“This will be performed today and it is expected that Tim will be unavailable for a further 3-4 months,” he added. (ANI)
