Hamilton says McLaren still not fast enough to beat Alonso despite Hungarian GP win

Hamilton says McLaren still not fast enough to beat Alonso despite Hungarian GP win

London, July 31 : Lewis Hamilton has sent a stern warning to his team McLaren that the car he has is still not fast enough to catch Formula One drivers champion Fernando Alonso.
Hamilton admitted a win at the Hungarian GP was exactly what the doctor had ordered for them.
“I definitely need it. Especially after the last three disastrous races. It was a really, really great day,” The Guardian quoted Hamilton, as saying.
“But I came here this weekend stronger than ever. Even though we had a really disastrous race in the last one I came here with the intention of winning. I always come with the intention of winning but in my mind it was so set. I was really pumped,” he added.
“From the moment we did our first session, everyone else was doing their different programmes and seeing that their programmes weren''t going so much to plan and ours did. I wanted to ace the weekend because I have never done that – I don''t think I have at least. But when I was in the lead I just wanted to win,” he said.
Hamilton said he was conscious of the 47-point gap to Alonso with nine races remaining, but added lots of more work was required on the car.
“Not a big enough blow [to Alonso]. But it''s a good setback [for him]. We were quick this weekend. You always want to win every race but to claw that gap back from Fernando we will need to finish ahead of him pretty much everywhere, which is going to be insanely difficult,” Hamilton said.
“The team did a great job throughout the pit-stops but we''ve got a lot of work to do and we''ve got to improve that car because it''s not quick enough,” he added. (ANI)
