Hamilton eyeing ‘podium finish’ in Valencia to boost chances of championship success

http://www.topnews.in/sports/files/Lewis-Hamilton_59.jpgLondon, June 19 : Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton has said his victory in the Canadian Grand Prix will count for nothing, unless he follows it up with another `podium finish' at this weekend's European Grand Prix in Valencia.

Hamilton stormed to victory to become the seventh winner from this season's seven races to move to the top of the drivers' championship, but despite his win, the 27-year-old has just a two-point advantage over Ferrari's Fernando Alonso.

"My win in Montreal was obviously an extremely satisfying moment for me, but actually, it does very little to alter things in the world championship," The Sun quoted Hamilton, as saying.

"I'm only two points ahead of Fernando, which is nothing, particularly when there are a handful of really strong drivers all separated by a couple of points," he added.

Hamilton knows he needs to repeat his heroics from Montreal again in Valencia on Sunday, to give himself some breathing space in the title race, the report said.

"I think that consistency, rather than individual strong results, will be the key to winning this world championship, so we need to back it up in Valencia with another strong result. I'll be heading to Valencia feeling super-motivated to get another result and maintain my momentum," he said. (ANI)
