Gooch confident of England unearthing new Pietersen soon

Gooch confident of England unearthing new Pietersen soon London, June 9 : England batting coach Graham Gooch has said Kevin Pietersen's decision to retire would provide opportunity to other players to step up and grab his vacant position.

Pietersen quit playing both 50-over and Twenty20 games for his country last week, and Gooch believes this is not going to be a big problem for England.

"Kevin is a superb player who is going to be missed in limited-overs cricket. But this is an opportunity for someone else to make his mark and start winning games for England," The Sun quoted Gooch, as saying.

"The likes of Craig Kieswetter, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler and James Taylor have been in and around the Lions and senior one-day teams. They are guys I see taking England forward over the next few years," he added. (ANI)
