Full text of AITA releaseBangalore, June 15 - Here is the full text of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) statement that was released to Media here Friday soon after the selection committee picked the men's doubles combination for the London Olympics:

"It was decided that a wild card request will be made for Sania Mirza for either singles or doubles with Rushmi Chakravarthy.

"Also, a wild card request will be made for Somdev Devvarman for men's singles as he was in the mock entry list of June 2011, but had to suffer because of injury.

"In respect of the selection of the men's doubles team, the selectors decided that it would be correct to put our best team forward, capable of winning a medal in the Olympics.

"Discussions were held with Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna on teleconference. Having heard the three players, the selection committee decided that the most appropriate pairing for the Olympics doubles will be Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi.

"In respect of mixed doubles, it was further decided that in case Sania Mirza is able to get wild card by 28th June, India will have an option to participate in mixed doubles wither with Leander paes or Mahesh Bhupathi. Final decision on the pairing will be made after Wimbledon.

"The selection will take into account grass court performance and also possible entry list of 12 direct entries to mixed doubles competition."(IANS)
