Cameron tells England cricketers ‘whole country behind them’ in Ashes defence quest

Cameron tells England cricketers ‘whole country behind them’ in Ashes defence quest London, Nov 24 : British Prime Minister David Cameron has conveyed support to the England cricket team as they prepare to defend the Ashes, through a personal video message saying, "The whole country is behind you."

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Cameron wished them success in their forthcoming series against Australia.

"I want to take this opportunity to wish you, the England cricket team, the very best of luck as you prepare to go into battle, down under, to retain the Ashes," he told them.

"Over the past five years you''ve given this country, and me, some of our greatest sporting memories. The two run victory at Edgbaston, winning the Ashes at the Oval in 2005, bowling out the Aussies on the final day at the Oval to win the ashes again in 2009. I hope you can now go and do what no England team has done for over two decades - go to Australia and retain the urn. The whole country is behind you," he added.

Cameron further jokingly said that his newborn daughter "who''s up at all hours", would make it easier for him keep him to catch the television coverage of the matches. He also stated that he is looking forward to welcoming the victorious team to Downing Street next year. (ANI)
