Bradman’s letter reveals concern for cricket’s future

Bradman’s letter reveals concern for cricket’s futureBowral (Australia), Nov 27: Previously unseen letters from Australian legend Sir Donald Bradman reveal that he harboured major fears for cricket's future.

In a letter written while responding to a telegram in 1979, Bradman said: "Over 50 years, I've tried to maintain a standard and it has not been easy in an age when virtually everything has become debased."

"Even in cricket as I watch six men fielding on the boundary, and no slip, I wonder. Changing values and changing virtues are a challenge not only to our thinking but our characters and who knows that better than you," he added.

The letters are being exhibited at a new Bradman Gallery at the International Hall of Fame in Bowral, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Bradman, often referred to as `The Don', was widely acknowledged as the greatest batsman of all time.

His career Test batting average of 99.94 has been claimed to be statistically the greatest achievement in any major sport. (ANI)
