London, Jan 04 : Ace midfielder David Beckham will not join French club Paris St Germain as he is expected to strike a new contract with LA Galaxy after they agreed to allow him to participate in summer''s 2012 Olympics. Paris St Germain has officially confirmed this news, The Sun reports. Leonardo, who is the Sporting Director at PSG, has been trying to sign Beckham sine his contract with LA Galaxy expired during November. “It''s over, he will not come to PSG. It''s a shame but the welfare of his family in Los Angeles, the wish not to change everything in his life, weighed heavily,” said Leonardo. He also stressed that Beckham’s decision of not taking up PSG’s offer isn’t professional but entirely private. “The question has never been professional but about his family. It is a difficult choice to make to move his family to Paris. It is a personal choice and it is not easy for him. I know him,” he added. Leonardo also expressed his admiration for Beckham. Meanwhile negotiation over a new contract with LA Galaxy had earlier faced a hitch when a slash to Beckham''s 6.5 million dollar salary was debated but the prospect of losing out their star player, forced LA Galaxy to offer a contract that keeps him on the same salary while improving other parts of the commercial package. It is believed that despite of receiving a more worthwhile offer from PSG, Beckham opted to stay with LA Galaxy, mainly because of his family. (ANI)
