Chennai, Dec 19 - Hosts Tamil Nadu carried on their impressive run in the 62nd senior National basketball championship comfortably beating Andhra Pradesh 76-47 here Monday.
The first quarter between the two teams was a closely fought affair with the score ending on 22-20. However, in the second (23-8) and third (15-11) quarters, the hosts piled the pressure on Andhra Pradesh and scored at will.
Saravana Rajan was the star of the match as he scored 18 points for Tamil Nadu while C. H. Naveen Kumar's 12 points went in vain as his side was completely outclassed by their neighbours.
In the women's category, the fans were treated to an exciting match with Madhya Pradesh toppling Punjab by just two points 67-65.
Kiranjit Kaur of Punjab scored 22 points but couldn't inspire her side to win, even though the team led Madhya Pradesh in the first quarter by eight points.
