Karachi, Oct 21 : In a clear case of miscommunication, the Pakistan cricket team’s manager and the chief selector convened separate press talks at the almost same time and on the same subject.
Pakistan’s chief selector Mohsin Khan and team manager Intikhab Alam informed the media in separate talks that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had cleared former captain Younis Khan for national duty, The News reported.
Addressing a press conference at the National Stadium in Karachi, Mohsin declared that Younis had just been selected for the one-day series against South Africa.
He added that the senior batsman, who averages over 50 in Test cricket, would have to prove his form in ODIs to be picked for the two Test matches against South Africa next month.
However, Intikhab told reporters at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore that Younis had been recalled in the national squad, and would play in both ODIs and Test series in the UAE.
When contacted, PCB’s media chief Nadeem Sarwar tried to clarify the matter, saying that the Board had cleared Younis for both the formats.
“Younis is available to play in one-dayers and Tests and we believe he would be in the team for both formats,” Sarwar said. (ANI)
