New Delhi, July 16 : A core group of 48 probables for the Indian hockey team have been selected for international tournaments.
The probables will take part in the second phase of the national camp beginning in Bangalore August 8.
The list will pruned down to 18 for the Asian Champions Trophy. The tournament, where the first six of the 2010 Guangzhou Asiad will participate, will be played at Ordos, China from September 3-12.
The teams are Pakistan, Malaysia, India, South Korea, Japan and China.
Selectors Balbir Singh, B. P. Govinda, Thoiba Singh, AB Subbaiah and government observer Dilip Tirkey picked the probables after the three-day trials at SAI Centre, Bangalore that concluded Friday.
New hockey coach Michael Nobbs and exercise physiologist David John were part of the coaching camp that had 91 players shortlisted from the senior nationals in Bhopal.
The ongoing camp will continue till July 31. The second phase of the camp will be held from Aug 8-28.
