Spanish vice-premier undergoes emergency operationMadrid  - Spain's Deputy Prime Minister Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega has undergone an emergency operation for an intestinal occlusion, the government said Wednesday.

Vega, 60, was rushed to hospital on Tuesday after suffering strong stomach pains during a meeting with trade union representatives.

The government said she was recovering well and would resume her duties in a few days. (dpa)
