Sensex Sluggish In Morning TradeAfter a surprising increase on Monday, a benchmark index for Indian equities today fell at opening bell and was trading 0.33% down as against its last closure.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which belled the day at 17,336.13, stood at 17,273.18, down 57.37 points down than its previous close at 17,330.55.

At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broad-based Nifty stood at 5,179.2, down 0.28% from its previous close at 5,193.6.

Broader market indices were also subdued, with the BSE midcap index trading 0.12% higher and the BSE smallcap index trading 0.33% up.

On Monday, Sensex ended positively at 17,330.55 after surging 561.44 points.

At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S and P CNX Nifty marked its closure at 5,193.6, up 3.5%.

The BSE midcap index ended 2.4% higher and the BSE smallcap index closed 2.75% up. (With Inputs from Agencies)
