Schwarzenegger announces stimulus for Hollywood

Schwarzenegger announces stimulus for Hollywood Los Angeles  - California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has announced a financial boost to the film and television industry in an attempt to prevent productions to move to other states.

"This is about the makeup artists, the caterers and the countless other small businesses that rely on film and television production to succeed and create jobs for Californians," Schwarzenegger said.

The former movie star on Monday listed 25 planned productions, among them Naked Gun 4, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 and Second Wives Club, which are to receive tax credits worth 67.5 million dollars under a film incentive scheme, should they be produced in California.

California's five-year, 500-million-dollar tax credit programme was approved by the state legislature in February.

The number of movie productions in Los Angeles declined by almost 50 per cent since 2003, as states like Louisiana, New Mexico and Arizona lure productions with their own tax incentives. (dpa)
