In May, Celebrity chef Sandra Lee, Gov. Cuomo’s longtime girlfriend, underwent a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer. On Tuesday night, she was rushed to hospital due to an infection. On Friday, she was discharged from the hospital.

Though she has been released, there are chances that she can undergo more surgery. “Sandra will be allowed to go home over this weekend with heavy antibiotics and monitoring but will need to be back for review and possible surgery at the beginning of next week”, stated Lee’s team on her Facebook page on Friday morning.

Later, Lee also posted a picture depicting there is power in positivity. Her team stated that Lee was trying to not go under any more surgery until her final breast reconstruction. But seeing the complications due to pre and post surgery, it seems that she may not able to avoid it.

Cuomo said that Lee will be fine. She is a very active person and a fighter. When Lee was hospitalized, Cuomo was attending a Billy Joel concert at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. He left the place early and since then has stayed close to Lee. He has also attended few public events.

The Democratic governor has thanked people who had sent messages of support. Cuomo said, “This is a long road. It's a terrible disease. ... I have tremendous respect for the women who have dealt with this”.
