Reliance JioReliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, a subsidiary of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries (RIL), tested its 4G network and demonstrated some of its newest LTE services at the recently held Techfest.

At the annual science & technology festival of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Mumbai, Reliance Jio ran trials of video calls and Jio Television service on its 4G network.

Reliance Jio also showcased wireless machines capable of measuring blood pressure and record data in the cloud, and making mobile phone-based urine analysis.

In addition, the company demonstrated entertainment-based services, including an Android-based set-top box, which allows users to watch live TV shows in high definition (HD) without any breaks. The set-top also offers Catch-up TV that lets users to watch up to seven-day-old TV shows.

An exhibitor at Jio's stall at the Techfest, said, "There is no need for recording TV shows. We store seven days of programming on our server, and a user can access it anytime (within seven days)."

It may be noted here that Reliance Jio is the country's only company that owns pan-India 4G spectrum.

Reliance Jio, which is expected to launch 4G service this year on TD-LTE technology, has nearly 500 Indian movies and as many as 2,500 episodes of Indian television shows to be streamed and watched online.
