Apparently, there is nothing so common between the budding actress Prachi Desai and talented actress Chitrangada Singh. But the thing that has brought the two actresses on common platform is a film to be produced by Ekta Kapoor and directed by Sudhir Mishra.

Prachi is known to be a hot favorite of her mentor Ekta Kapoor so she wanted the actress in the lead role of the film. On the other hand, Sudhir Mishra has opted for Chitrangada, who he directed in `Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi' in 2003.

New Delhi, Jan 27 - India's annual food inflation inched up to 15.57 percent for the week ended Jan 15, because of a sharp rise in fuel prices and with vegetables and other essential food items continuing to cost dear, as per official data released Thursday.

Food inflation for the previous week was 15.52 percent. The data released reflected the latest petrol price hike of Rs. 2.50 per litre. Fuel price rise has a cascading effect on inflation.

London, Dec 25 : While Barbie is celebrating her 50th birthday this year, the sales of the popular doll are on a decline in the UK.

Barbie sales are thought to have slumped 35 percent as it is facing rejection in playrooms around the country.

Confidential industry data has indicated that UK sales of Barbie slumped 42 percent this year as old favourites such as Lego and newer franchise the Sylvanian Families stormed ahead, up 20 percent and 40 percent respectively.

Experts argued that the decline of the famous doll was due to the straitened economic times.

Elaine Whiteman, toys and books buyer at John Lewis, said heritage brands such as Lego, Playmobil, Meccano and Sylvanian Families had led the field this Christmas.

Japanese auto giant Nissan is expected to announce a huge investment in its UK factory in Sunderland to boost the production of green cars.

Nissan plans to launch electric cars in the US and Japan from next year.

Nissan's current move would secure as many as 4,000 jobs.

Business secretary Lord Mandelson, who plans a "green revolution", is expected to visit firm's plant and enlighten workers regarding plans to create a low-carbon economic area via electric cars.

Washington, May 19: Skilful dentists existed as far back as 2,500 years ago who helped ancient peoples of southern North America beautify their teeth with otches, grooves, and semiprecious gems.

This finding comes from a recent analysis of thousands of teeth examined from collections in Mexico''s National Institute of Anthropology and History.

The collections belonged to people living throughout the region, called Mesoamerica, before the Spanish conquests of the 1500s.

José Concepcion Jimenez, an anthropologist at the institute, has revealed that the research team did not know the origin of most of the teeth in the collections.

Tbilisi/Moscow - EU observers started their mission Wednesday to monitor the Russo-Georgian ceasefire agreement one and half months after conflict flared between the two countries over Georgia's breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.

Russian troops still in Georgia prevented the observers from entering the security zone they set up around South Ossetia.

"It is not a categorical ban on the EU mission; it's just that the details of the monitoring mission have not been cleared up yet," a Russian military spokesman told Interfax news agency.

New York, Dec 14 : Tiger Woods'' first girlfriend has opened up about her relationship with the troubled golfer, saying he used to be a shy guy.

Dina Gravell (now Gravell-Parr) and Woods fell for each other in high school.

"We were each other''s first real boyfriend and girlfriend," the New York Post quoted Gravell, as saying.

"It was fire and flames. We were in teenage love."

The duo - Gravell, then 17, and Woods, then 16 - first came to know each other in 1992 while they attended an ac counting class at Western HS in Ana heim, Calif.

Washington, April 1: Archaeologists have uncovered a giant statue of an ancient Egyptian queen at the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III on Luxor’s West Bank in Egypt.

According to a report in National Geographic News, a joint European-Egyptian team found the statue, which is 12-foot-tall, and attached to the broken-off leg of a much larger colossus of Amenhotep III, who ruled from about 1390 to 1350 B. C.
