Pandit expects more jobs soon

Citigroup chief executive officer Vikram Pandit is on a short visit to India. His visit comes at a time when global financial and banking giant is seeking to restructure its work adopting a "back-to-banking" policy and targeting emerging economies like India and China.

He recently made an appearance on business channel, CNBC-TV18, where he revealed some of policies he brought about in the bank's core departments. When he was asked about his interest in targeting India as part of bank's growth strategy he said bank can do much better in India.

He said, "So we are looking at the paper with real seriousness. And, its one way for us is to provide the kind of services to the Indian consumer and the Indian companies and go deeper into India."

He also talked about recovery in US economy from economic downturn. He said companies have started hiring once again and jobs are once again back in market. He said he hopes that economies see more jobs, but this will definitely take time. He also said economies recovered faster than expected. He said United States will create enough jobs once again, but after a little bit of time.

After getting salary, this is first visit of Vikram Pandit to India. Reportedly, he denied accepting salary when Citigroup incurred huge loss. He accepted salary of $1 for a year. But as Citigroup rebounds to profit, his salary also got a boost.
