Pak to hunt down Taliban everywhere in the country: Zardari

Pak to hunt down Taliban everywhere in the country: ZardariLahore, May 23 : Hinting that the military offensive against the Taliban and other extremist groups could be expanded into other regions than the Swat Valley, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has said the Taliban would be hunted down everywhere inside the country's geographical territory.

In an interview to a private television channel, Zardari refuted media reports that quoted him as saying that the government is planning to carry out military operations in Waziristan after Swat.

"I had never said the government would conduct a military operation in Waziristan after Swat. I had said the government would eliminate militancy wherever it felt the need to do so," The Daily Times quoted Zardari, as saying.

Terming the war against terrorism as a `fight for Pakistan's survival', Zardari said the United States must not repeat its `mistake' of sidelining Pakistan.

Commenting on Pakistan's nukes, that were feared to fall into the Taliban hands, Zardari claimed that country's nuclear armaments were in safe custody.

Reiterating the demands for having own unmanned Predator aircrafts, Zardari said the drone strikes would be much more effective if carried out by Pakistan itself.

"The Americans must understand that there would be no protest if drone strikes in the tribal areas were conducted by Pakistan itself," he added.

Zardari also said that India has nothing to do with the `bilateral' transit trade agreement inked between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

"India has nothing to do with this agreement," Zardari said.
