Cotabato City, Philippines - Philippine troops killed three Muslim rebels in a firefight in a southern province, an army spokesman said Tuesday.

Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Ponce said the clash occurred Monday in the village of Balunan in Datu Odin Sinsuat town in Maguindanao province, 960 kilometres south of Manila.

Ponce said troops were on patrol when they encountered about 20 Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels, triggering a 30-minute firefight.

London - Blackburn Rovers confirmed on Tuesday that they have signed South Africa midfielder Elrio van Heerden from Belgium's Club Brugge.

London, June 2 : Naked photo scandal involving Rihanna has cost her a covershoot with Vogue magazine, it has emerged.

According to reports, the R&B star was being lined up for the prestigious photoshoot, however, editor Anna Wintour changed her plans after shots of the singer posing naked leaked online, reports The Daily Express.

A source tells Star magazine, "Anna told her Vogue absolutely loves her and really wanted to work with her.

London - Leading budget airline Ryanair reported its first annual pre-tax loss Tuesday, saying it had gone into the red by 169 million euros (239 million dollars) last year following a fuel bill increase of 59 per cent.

The loss run up by the end of March, 2009, compares with a profit of 481 million euros in the previous year and comes after Ryanair faced record oil prices and a hefty writedown on the value of its investment in rival Irish carrier Aer Lingus.
