CEO of Microsoft, Steve Ballmer has been asked to give an opening key note address at the Consumer Electronics Show 2011 as stated by the Consumer Electronics Association.

The CES 2011 to be held in January next year might open with the key not of CEO as it happened this year.

Ballmer spoke about various Windows 7-based tablet devices but none of them seemed to touch base till date.  

Microsoft has filed for a patent with the US Patent and Trademark Office that concerns with the virtual 'page-turning' technology, currently being used by many e-book readers, reports tech news website, The Register.

Microsoft has publicized the application number for its patent number as 20100175018. This further confirms that the company is looking to seek for a patent for the page-turning animation which is utilized when a user makes the apt hand gesture on the touch screen of an e-book reader.

Google will soon start gathering data for its Street View service in European countries and in South Africa, reports Reuters.

As per the reports published by Google on its European Public Policy blog, the search giant is soon to put back its controversial Street View cars back on the path, after seeking permission from data protection regulators in countries including Norway, Sweden, Ireland and South Africa.

The latest buzz is about the Apple's Apple TV which apparently will offer $1 video streams rather than usual downloads.

Yahoo has unveiled the latest News blog- The Upshot, according to a report by technology site TechCrunch.

Upshot Editor, Andrew Golis said that the News Blog is based on Yahoo’s search engine and aims at provide the crisp, exact information that listeners need to know.

He further added that the information provided shall be as soon as a story breaks and will be stuck until the end.

It was further stated that the work seen on the site will be coming from the competitors and one should be able to read it with a link.

US National Security Agency (NSA) is all geared up for release of its 'Perfect Citizen' programme that is aimed to look out for supposed threats and at the same time offer shield towards web attacks on American organisations, reports the Wall Street Journal.

It is a $100 million contract for the programme that is offered to defence contractor Raytheon.

In regard of this matter Raytheon via e-mail stated: "Our Government... feel that they need to ensure the Public Sector is doing all they can to secure infrastructure critical to our national security."
