Malaysian police nab Iranian duo accused of drug trafficking
Kuala Lumpur - Malaysian police have detained two Iranian nationals who were allegedly in possession of methamphetamines worth about 300,000 ringgit (81,080 dollars), news reports said Tuesday.
The two men, 41 and 37, were detained in Kuala Lumpur late Thursday as they were waiting to meet a buyer for the drugs, city narcotics chief Kang Chez Chiang said.
He said the suspects were believed to be linked to an international drug syndicate based in Iran, adding that the men have been operating in Kuala Lumpur for a month.
Malaysia has a mandatory death sentence by hanging for those found guilty of trafficking in most types of drugs. (dpa)
