40 MNS Workers Arrested For Attacking MKCL Office In Mumbai
Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists have once again come under the arc light for the wrong reason.
A group of MNS activists on Friday attacked the Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) office in south Mumbai afternoon in protest against the non-functioning of the online admission website.
A police official at the Azad Maidan police station said: “We have detained approximately 40 MNS activists for damaging property at the Elphinstone Technical Institute.”
According to the police, the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (the student wing of the MNS) ransacked the office equipment including computers during their protest against the website not functioning properly.
However, it is learnt that some workers left the place soon on learning that the website server is based in Pune.
Meanwhile, MKCL officials have denied that their servers had crashed, and said that they had announced that the site would not be functional for half-an-hour, starting 4pm, as they were working at increasing the servers' capacity.
