Nissan ties up with Ennore Port for ten yearsJapanese automaker, Nissan has entered into a ten year agreement with the Ennore Port Limited for exporting its vehicles to other parts of the world.

The agreement includes special services for the company such as in wharf age up to 60,000 units, free parking space and priority in handling its automobile units. The company has already export a total of 2.5 lakh units of cars from Chennai.

The port authorities have said that the agreement was subject to cancellation if the exports of automobile units of Nissan or Renault occur from another port. On the other hand, if EPL is unable to handle the company's exports then the load will be shifted to the Chennai Port Trust.

Union Shipping Minister G K Vasan said that the Ennore port now has a cargo-cum-car terminal with an investment of Rs 140 crore. This port has also developed a parking yard of 35 acres with a capacity of 10,000 cars. The EPL has expored more than 3.36 lakh automobile units since September 2010.
