Natural Resources and Environment Ministry Promotes Waste Treatment Systems

According to reports, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment finally announced that in order to protect the environment, also including the promotion of the liquid and solid waste treatment systems at public hospitals, which is planned to be achieved by 2015, they would donate about 1% of its annual budget to the Ministry of Health.

However, they claimed that this year, the amount allocated for ecological safety was recorded at VND7.25 trillion (US$352 million).

In the meantime, Tran Dac Phu, Deputy Head of the Health Environment Management Administration commented, the health sector too predicted that besides the donated amount, the 2015 hospital waste treatment arrangements plan would be requiring a huge amount of VND5 trillion (US$243 million).

Meanwhile, he further asserted that the recent hospital figures proved that many public rest homes failed to establish this system just because they did not have sufficient funds and as a result of which, only 44% met the environmental norms.

On the other hand, the reports further claimed that by 2015, for a daily treatment, more than 300,000 cubic meters of liquid waste and 600 tones of solid waste became mandatory and following this plan, eighteen hospitals, which were reported as the main culprits, who caused severe environmental pollution, would be given the priority, before the treatment systems setting plan begins.
