Mulally, Nadella Edge Ahead of Stephen Elop in Microsoft CEO Race

Mulally, Nadella Edge Ahead of Stephen Elop in Microsoft CEO RaceFord Motor Co. CEO Alan Mulally and Microsoft's internal executive Satya
Nadella have edged ahead of Nokia CEO Stephen Elop in the race for the
top job at the Redmond-based software giant, new reports suggest.

According to a fresh report published by Bloomberg, Microsoft's board is
now leaning toward Alan Mulally or Satya Nadella, over Elop and other
candidates for the position that would become vacant after current CEO
Steve Ballmer's departure.

While Mulally is currently leading automobile giant Ford Motor, Nadella
is the current executive vice president of Cloud & Enterprise
business at Microsoft.

The report said that outgoing Nokia CEO Elop and Tony Bates, the head of
business development at Microsoft, are less likely to be offered the
top position at the Redmond firm.

It may be noted here that before joining Nokia, Elop was at Microsoft.
After joining the Finnish handset maker, Nokia adopted Microsoft's
Windows Phone OS and the two companies became closer allies.

Ballmer, the long-time CEO of Microsoft, had announced his decision to
step down in August this year. The company aims to name a name a new CEO
before Christmas.
