MPs urges doctors to work with councils to improve social careMPs have urged general practitioners in the country to work with the local councils to improve social care in the country for older and vulnerable people.

Members of Parliament from the health select committee has recommended creation og closer joint working between the NHS and local government for improving care in the country. They aim to address the issue of fragment health care system in the country.

The MPs said in the Social Care: Fourteenth Report of Session 2012-12 said that beter collaborations between the government and the NHS staff as not been achieved despite several recommendations.

They recommended having a single commissioner, who would be responsible for bringing together the money spent on older people to provide help and support, including NHS care, social care and social housing. They said that joined commissioning would address the issue of fragment health and support system for elderly people in the country.

The MP's have asked the clinical commissioning groups and local councils to begin a single commissioning process in the country soon. The repot said that the government on a national level must also adopt a similar model of working.
